The Cruise Ship Report is running a story that Celebrity’s Summit arrived in Seward AK on Aug 19th with a whale pinned to its bow.
The whale was dangling on the bulbous part of the bow that juts out from the hull just below the waterline. It was spotted by longshore after the ship moored in Seward.
Officials have scheduled a necropsy to determine if the whale had been struck and killed by the ship, or if the whale was already dead when it was snagged by Summit.
Federal officials who were investigating the incident do not believe that the crew had done anything wrong.
